Song Of The Day 1/12/2013: Hello - "New York Groove"

Following up on yesterday's tongue-in-cheek spectacular about the KISS solo albums, in my research I discovered that Ace Frehley's great recording of "New York Groove" was in fact a cover of a tune by hit songwriter Russ Ballard. The first version was done by a glam rock band called, rather congenially, Hello. Here it is. Dig that deep harmonica groove.

Side note: "New York Groove" was redone last year by the definitive glam-pop band of the '70s, Sweet. It appears on their album New York Connection. The twist on Sweet's version is that they intersperse "NYG" with the chorus from Alicia Keys' "Empire State Of Mind." ("New Yoooork, concrete jungle where dreams are made of...") I'll let you go find that for yourselves. The search is its own reward. Especially in this case.
