Song Of The Day 1/17/2013: Cookie & His Cupcakes - "Got You On My Mind"

This post is partially inspired by my friend Kay, who posted something about swamp pop figure Joe Barry not too long ago. Swamp pop was born from gulf or near-gulf areas in Louisiana and Texas, when a lot of Creole and Cajun musicians first fell under the spell of new R&B and rock and roll. It's a fairly slim genre of music, historically, but not unfamiliar since it sounds like it's straight out of New Orleans. Cookie & the Cupcakes were one of swamp pop's signature acts. Hope they sweeten up your Thursday. I'm fully confident you see what I did there.
