Crowdsourced Song Of The Day 2/18/2013: The Nashville Teens - "Google Eye"

Today's CSOTD comes to us courtesy of Beaver Gonzalez. The Nashville Teens, as their name implies, were from Surrey, England. Their version of the blues standard "Tobacco Road" is probably the one you most recall, and their only real Stateside hit. The Teens had credibility with the first wave of rock and rollers, coming from stints in which they backed up Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. "Google Eye" was written by the same person who cooked up "Tobacco Road," John D. Loudermilk, who wrote a mess of other certified '60s classics.

This song would be perfect for a bad commercial for a web search engine, if only it weren't about fishing. A google eye is a tiny fish that's supposed to have some flavor, but more commonly it's used to bait the big game fish. Bass and such. I suppose you could make an agreeable google eye salad, akin to the way anchovies are perfect additions to many salads.
