Song Of The Day 2/13/2014: Tavares - "She's Gone"

Quarterly Covers Report: Tavares from New Bedford, MA, are one of the R&B vocal groups of the '70s that keeps slipping my mind, even though they had two stone cold pop-soul classics with "It Only Takes a Minute" and "Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel." They secured their first #1 hit on the R&B charts with this cover of Hall & Oates' "She's Gone," which became a hit for Hall & Oates themselves in 1976, three years after they originally recorded it. The two recordings share some very deep sonic similarities, especially in their introductions. And since this blog couldn't exist for more than one month at a stretch without a casual mention of Hall & Oates, singly or combined, we have to pay the piper for the month of February. Not only will this blog's H&O fetish get worse in March, it's going to spread to another blog. Details to follow. But here's Tavares.
