Song Of The Day 12/20/2016: Big Stick – “Jesus Was Born (On an Indian Reservation)”
Christmas Week -- Earlier this year I devoted an entire playlist to Big Stick, with a certain amount of amazement that I'd missed them the first time around. This was the kind of music I head-rushed into in the early-to-mid-'90s. Since they got a song about the Prince of Peace, whether or not it's accurate, I thought I'd pepper the Christmas mythology of this week with their theories. Which hold out that JC was born on an Indian reservation, which you can glean from the title. They mark his birth time as "100 years ago," which given the time of this recording would be sometime in the last quarter of the 19th century. Boy, would that screw with John the Revelator or what?
