Those who know me (there are about three) know that Philly soul of the '70s is possibly my favorite branch of R&B, unless you happen to catch me in a Stax mood. That's why this show's special tribute to the work of Philly godheads Kenny Gamble, Leon Huff and Thom Bell runs three segments long, stimulating that huge chunk of my brain that responds only to the calling of MFSB. Spinners! Delfonics! Stylistics! Blue Notes! Lou Rawls! O'Jays! And no, your eyes don't deceive you, that is in fact Elton John down there.
