Song Of The Day 9/7/2012: Thomas Dolby - "Airwaves"

Nobody really chooses to be a one-hit wonder, unless they were out to make a quick buck and retire from the business to open a locksmith shop or something. Thomas Dolby certainly had a bigger body of work that was much deeper, adventurous and emotionally satisfying than "She Blinded Me With Science." (Well, maybe that explains why he wasn't anything more than a one-hit wonder.) This is an example of what he was capable of. Also see his 1984 album The Flat Earth, as rich and warm an album as someone with synth roots gets (of course, it's not really a synth-pop album). Just sample me this one piece and I won't interrupt your viewing of Sixteen Candles again.
