Song Of The Day 12/19/2012: 65daysofstatic - "I'm Dreaming Of A White Noise Christmas"
On the sixth day of Christmas, I bring you heathen mashups. 65daysofstatic are from Sheffield, England. This is their treatment of a popular recording from Christina Aguilera, billed as a "collaboration" between the two. I do not know if the collaboration was truly consensual, or if that phrase is a playful euphemism spun by internet forces. Was that thing The Strokes did with Aguilera's "Genie in a Bottle" a collaboration? I don't know. But hey, it's Christmas, all of us should be selfless and think nothing of it.
Fun fact: The band is named after the results of some psychological tests done in the middle of the 20th century, which determined that 65 days of sustained exposure to white noise would make a person insane. We were so innocent then.
