Song Of The Day 1/24/2013: The Ukulele Orchestra Of Great Britain - "Teenage Dirtbag"

This veritable death squad of ukulele commandos has been doing many very nice things since the mid-80's, but turning Wheatus' 2000 McHit into a poignant sonnet, I believe, qualifies as a miracle. Surprisingly, the original version was a bigger hit in the UK and Australia than it was in America. Hester Goodman is the singer here, and it's inspiring how much better this song sounds when plainly delivered in the Sandy Denny range.

Much like when '70s soft-rock hacks' songs usually didn't sound great until the Isley Brothers covered them, perhaps we should encourage the temp bands of the '90s and early '00s to submit their work to the Ukulele Orchestra Of Great Britain. Anyone got Lit's number?
