Roger Ebert

It's hard to overstate how much influence Roger Ebert had on my writing. The approach and logic he employed, the unseen entrances he'd take to assess a movie, the questions he posed and the style he championed. He might have been on TV, but he wasn't a pop critic. Ebert, Pauline Kael, Lester Bangs and Greil Marcus all taught me how to think (and occasionally feel) while writing about entertainment. Only one of them is left. We need to make more of them.

Wish I could have thanked you personally. RIP Roger.
