Song Of The Day 1/9/2014: Neil Young & Crazy Horse - "Don't Spook the Horse"

B-Sides Week: This sparsely-annotated fan favorite came on the B-side of Neil Young & Crazy Horse's "Mansion on the Hill" from the illustrious Ragged Glory album, released during an age when the single as physical entity was a few heartbeats away from obsolescence. It's a jam song pretty much, dotted every few minutes or so with chunks of advice relating to the social constructs of agrarian culture. Maxims like "If you want to pet that old hound dog, make sure he ain't rolled in shit." Which is also excellent counsel for dinner parties, bus depots and political conventions.
