Thought were great: Blonde Redhead, Loudon Wainwright III, Prins Thomas, Ryan Adams, Leonard Cohen, Aphex Twin, Tweedy, Perfect Pussy, Prince (the R&B one).
Thought were damn good: The Soft Pink Truth, Hiss Golden Messenger, Sloan, Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga, Perfume Genius, Julian Casablancas & The Voidz, Octave Minds.
Thought was damn good until the unnecessarily drastic remake of Bill Withers' "Lovely Day" they snuck in at the end of the album: alt-J.
Thought their existence was justified: Radiator Hospital, Avi Buffalo, Death From Above 1979, Imelda May.
Worth every penny I paid for it: U2.
They'll do: Half Japanese, Interpol, Karen O, Ballet School, Tobacco, Chicago Underground Duo.
They'll just barely do: My Brightest Diamond, Goat, Prince (the rock one).
No thanks, and please tell your lead singer to stop playing with my swivel chairs: Maroon 5.
