Star Time #27: Keep On Moving

After 26 episodes firmly based in American concerns with only the occasional sidelong glance elsewhere, I felt it was time to devote a show to the R&B traditions of other countries -- including the continent that started it all, and the island that started something else. Hour 1 of this show features '60s and '70s R&B and related styles from Africa, from direct James Brown tributes to the sounds of highlife and Afro-Cuban. Hour 2 has the early influences of reggae from Jamaica: rocksteady, ska and roots, some strains of music I could listen to all day. It's nice to get out of the house.
