Star Time #38: Last of the Big Time Spenders
"Last of the big time spenders" is an ironic phrase, applied in derision to notoriously cheap bar patrons who spend as little money as necessary to have as good a time as possible. You know, sort of like this show. Rimshot. (See, I'm not even going to pay for a real rimshot. Times is hard.) Oh, but this episode is fun as heck. We have the titular comedy routine by Cornbread & Biscuit, a tarnished angel, an entry from soul capital Cardiff, Wales, a power struggle, a Temptation, claim jumpin', and a mystery woman who goes by the name of Janice. Also a parting glance from a late, great Philly soul legend and friend of this blog, Bunny Sigler. Rest in peace, sir. Down here we'll keep it loud.
