Summer Special tribute to one of the more bewitching series of the 21st century: the Numero Group's
Eccentric Soul compilations and reissued 45rpm singles. As far as I can tell,
Eccentric Soul is not
that eccentric; it's simply a low-key testimonial to the hyper-local R&B indie labels of the '60s and '70s, the kind of soul music that makes old-school DJs like your proprietor slacken their jaw and shapelessly flutter over speaker cabinets.
