Recently on 2nd Hand Emotions
Back in February I launched a new music blog called 2nd Hand Emotions. I promoted it the day it launched, then got distracted by Tiger King. For those who frequent this blog but need a hell of a carrot to go visit the new one, here's a summary of what's been put up there in the last few weeks:
Also thought I'd have some fun with prospective hardcore fans of the new blog, whenever they finally show up. As pieces are written and fill its pages, there's something you won't find in the write-ups. What is it? I will give no hints on this riddle. It's an Easter egg. Well, I guess, the opposite of an Easter egg. It's a non-existent Easter egg. That's what it is. Anyway, knock yourself out.
- A de facto introduction to the blog's very general aim via Irving Berlin and Cole Porter.
- Two installments of a series called Know Your Chords, originally conceived as a video podcast, but written out. So far I've covered major and minor chords.
- Two installments of a series called Notes on Song, originally started on this blog. There's a new piece on the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again" and a repurposed re-publication of the first piece, on Dire Straits' "Sultans of Swing."
- A long description on what's wrong with my right ear. Still having a problem with it.
- A quick hit piece on a liner note from an old Joe Jackson album.
- A Bonzo Dog Band video.
