Star Time #96: Bright City Lights
We'll be spending the next two episodes in the 1970's, in fairly strict chronological order, so I can restore a sense of consistency in my life. This week's show focuses squarely on great R&B music from 1970 to 1974, and includes a smattering of hits alongside the usual deep diggers. Featured: some sharp kiss-off poetry by Wanda Robinson, a reasonable Jackson 5 copycat band, the theme to Sanford & Son, a surprisingly good vocal from a former Los Angeles Ram, and Screamin' Jay Hawkins doing what he does best which, you may not be not surprised to learn, is screaming.
